About us
In 1973, J.L. Busca, already a successful conference interpreter and consultant to the general management of a large multinational corporation, and his wife Rosanna Piazzola, a professional interpreter and translator, founded Studiobusca & C snc. The company focused on language services and rapidly expanded its customer portfolio and the number of staff members managed by the two owners. The direct experience they had developed and their personal input ensured the top-notch quality of their Simultaneous Interpretation and Translation team.
The establishment of Studiobusca sas in 1979 was the second important milestone in the company's history. This was when the company decided to invest in the purchase of audio and simultaneous translation systems. Tired of having to undergo excessive strain as an interpreter due to the inadequacy of the equipment provided on site, Dr. Busca decided to bring in an electronic engineer to plan and build two simultaneous translation systems, one operating wireless and the other by cable, which offered exceptional quality at a low price. Dr. Busca's direct experience as a user and the electronic engineer's skills allowed the company to offer its customers a Language Services / Simultaneous Translation Systems package that ensured excellent value for money and, most importantly, one supplier: the Conference System Department had been created.
The company's partnership with SONY, which launched a line of conferencing products on the market in 1985, dramatically improved the quality of the Conference Systems department. Studiobusca sas acquired a range of multi-language translation systems and Conference System microphones and became a dealer of SONY conference products, culminating in 1993 with the company leading the market in the new infrared digital translation system via optical-fibre cables, for which it owned the largest number of receivers in Europe.
In 1991, Dr. Busca's younger son, Pierfrancesco Busca, joined the company in an administrative role. In 1993, Dr. Busca's elder son, Massimoflavio Busca, who had obtained a university degree in business and economics, also joined the company, giving it its present-day form and name – Studiobusca Servizi srl.
In 1994, the Conference Systems Department was the first in Italy to purchase ISDN videoconferencing equipment and was a market leader in renting professional systems produced by Picturetel (now the world leader Polycom). The perfect compatibility between videoconferencing equipment and audio/video and simultaneous translation systems and the professional skills of our technicians ensured the success of dozens of important events.
In 1997, the company obtained videoconferencing certification from AT&T and Telecom Italia.
Massimoflavio Busca became managing director in 2001, after having led the Conference Systems Department for 8 years and increased its turnover fourfold.
For many years Studiobusca Servizi has been a member of the American Chamber of Commerce, AIMP (the Italian association of Meeting Planners, of which Massimoflavio Busca has been the Secretary General for 6 years), and Federcentri (the Italian federation of translation agencies). As of this year we are members of EFAPCO (the European Federation of Professional Congress Organizers).
In 2006, Studiobusca Servizi srl received the UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification for the quality control of the company’s operating procedures after preparations lasting only 4 months – further proof of the excellent work done by the management over the years. The company is already one of the few European companies certified according to the brand new UNI EN 15038:2006 norm on text translation.
At present, in addition to the founding partners, J.L. Busca, the Chairman, and Rosanna Piazzola, the Deputy Chairman, and their two sons, the company employs a staff of 8 and works with more than 160 professional interpreters, translators, technicians, and hostesses.
Over 440 days of interpretation service, 100 days of hostess service, 730 rentalswith technical support, and 1,800,000 translated words - these figures are further evidence of the company's professional skills (2007 data).
