Consecutive Interpretation
Consecutive interpretation does not require the use of equipment, apart from a normal sound system to amplify the interpreter's voice, who is usually next to the speaker and translates phrase by phrase. The length of the phrases that may be translated depends on the interpreter's memory and abilities.
Consecutive interpretation is less expensive than simultaneous interpretation because there is no need to rent receivers, but has the disadvantage of doubling the length of the event, in that the speaker and the interpreter have to speak in turns. Consecutive interpreters may work for a maximum of 4 hours. Two interpreters are required for events exceeding this limit.
